Newton's Laws of Motion
1st Law An object in motion will stay in motion and an object at rest will stay at rest. Both are true until acted upon by an unbalanced force.
2nd Law Acceleration- The greater the mass of an object the greater the amouint of force required to move the object. This is for both starting or stopping motion.
3rd Law For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction
Parents or Students- For help with Newton's laws check out this website
http://www.physicsclassroom.com/Physics-Tutorial/Newton-s-Laws
Rube Goldberg Criteria
Your Rube Goldberg Machine must demonstrate Newton's three laws of motion.
This assignment is to be completed with materials you can find at home. Your recycling bin and old toy boxes are best. If locating materials is an issue just have your parents send a note and I will gladly provide you with some. I completely understand if your project becomes too difficult to bring to school. Please create a video of it and bring it to school on a usb drive or email me the file if you are unable to demonstrate at school.
Due Date is Tuesday, February 13
Extending Explains and demonstrates all three laws of motion in multiple areas 15+ seconds
Mastering Explains and demonstrates all three laws of motion 7-15 seconds
Developing Explains and demonstrates some laws of motion 4-6 seconds
Aquiring No explanation 1-3 seconds
